About us

Amaro Del was founded in 1999; the name itself means "our God". The band members are Roma people who are also committed Christians (from left to right):
Tibor Virág jr. - drums, percussion
Sándor Tejfel - keyboard
Károly Horváth - bass
Tibor Virág – lead singing, guitar
Ruszlán Jankovszki – singing, guitar, vocals
The band members live in Mukachevo, Ukraine but they often travel to Hungary. They have also already performed in the following countries: England, Norway, Romania, Serbia, Germany, Netherlands and Poland. In the Ukrainian seaside town Kherson at the shores of the Black Sea they performed at a charity music festival in front of 18.000 people.
Amaro Del has a twofold aim: one of their aims is to spread Christian culture and the Gospel (mainly among Roma people but of course anywhere else, too) and their other aim is to facilitate and improve dialogue between Romas and Hungarians. They firmly believe that there is a solution to this grave social problem: „I don’t believe that ghettoisation and police interventions are able to bring about long-term change. Only God can bring true change. I would like to suggest to Christians to pray for the Gypsy people. They should try and be patient with them since their change will take much longer than a year. The Roma people need God!” – says Ruszlan Jankovszki and adds that he himself knows several Roma persons who accepted Christianity and went through great changes as a result – some even became pastors. There is a real opportunity for change!
Amaro Del would like to express this change through their music. So far they have published three CDs with the support of the Eastern-European Mission Hungary, who is also their main sponsor from the beginning.
